Ethics
While the Oklahoma Administrative Code is not a carbon copy of the American Counseling Association Code of Ethics, it holds many similarities. This being said, the OAC does not cite the ACA and does not formally subscribe to or adopt ACA policies or standards. Below is a sample comparison of a few of the codes.

- Competency entails ongoing education and professional growth.
- Emphasis is put on boundary setting and awareness, discourages Dual Relationships.
- Does not allow sexual or romantic interactions with a client.
- Focuses on client protection in reference to client welfare.
- Competency based on education and experience.
- Prohibits any relationships that can cloud judgment; Dual Relationships.
- Strongly states no sexual relationship with any former or current clients, or supervisors.
